Five stories that have North Texas talking: Falling temps and snowflakes, Festival of Lights, golf as South Dallas鈥� savior and more.
Commuters and persistent good-timers saw snow falling as early as 5:30 a.m. in Dallas, Jason Dunn with the National Weather Service . Dunn said temps should dip to 24 tonight. And if it does get that frigid, it鈥檒l be the coldest we鈥檝e felt since February.
To commemorate, take a moment to enjoy Geoffrey Jones鈥� influential short documentary Snow. In about the same time these eight minutes of scenes from the UK鈥檚 Big Freeze of 1963 are up, our tiny portion was gone. But virtual ensconcement has its perks, as these shovelers remind us.

- The hype over the Trinity Forest golf course continues to build, as its funders expect the project to draw big money and surrounding development to South Dallas once it opens in 2016. Golfing in general is on the decline nationally according to the National Golf Foundation. Dallas was number one on of the top 20 cities for golf last year, though. []
- For Texas sports fans, it was a weekend of wild emotional swings. The high points: Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel and the Cowboys pulling out . But those victories couldn't ease the pain of baseball's Rangers trading away the man who defined the franchise for the last 12 years, , or worse yet, the death early Saturday of Cowboys practice squad player Jerry Brown Jr. His teammate and friend Josh Brent was and released on bond Sunday afternoon.
