An excerpt from Wright鈥檚 book follows one convert, 21-year-old Londoner Paul Haggis, from a record shop where he first received a copy of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard from a fast-talking evangelist to the circumstances of vulnerability that led him to claim the ideals of the religion, which Hubbard describes as such:
