NASA Wants You To Name Its Newest Shuttle ... Sort Of

The Enterprise, a prototype shuttle used for initial flight tests but not to fly in space, was awarded to New York City?s Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.

It won't leave the ground, but it'll help lay the floor for a $12 million attraction at Space Center Houston - and NASA wants you to give it a name. Starting today at noon, Texans can christen a new high-fidelity Shuttle replica that will crown the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft as part of a $12 million new attraction at the center.

The official visitor hub for NASA鈥檚 Johnson Space Center is putting its free contest at . Takers have 'til Labor Day, Sept. 2, to submit a moniker that "symbolizes the spirit of Texas and its unique characteristics of independence, optimism and can-do attitude," as organizers put it.
