Finding Heroes of Texas Music 'All Over The Map'

Based on music writer Michael Corcoran's interviews with hitmakers across the state, the latest edition of " " highlights the heroes of Texas music, both on the stage and behind the scenes.

With over 30 years of research on a range of genres from blues and country to hip-hop and Conjunto, Corcoran puts together portraits of iconic artists in relation to the parts of Texas each musician calls home.

Raised in San Antonio, Jan Ross is a graduate of UT Austin鈥檚 School of Journalism. Before starting at Texas Public Radio, she interned for the News Desk at NPR Headquarters and the network鈥檚 mid-day program, Here & Now. She was a member of Texas Standard鈥檚 digital-first web team and interned during the newsmagazine show鈥檚 launch in 2015. Jan Ross is a Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change Fellow and was selected for the University of Texas System鈥檚 Archer Fellowship in Washington, D.C. Described as a 鈥渨alking Wikipedia,鈥 Jan Ross is interested in all things pop culture and global affairs. Her journalistic interests range from issues of social inequality to media commentary.
