Ronnie Goines, lead pastor of Koinonia Christian Church, was arrested Thursday afternoon on one count of indecent assault and one count of sexual assault.
Goines, 51, turned himself into Tarrant County Jail after APD Sex Crimes Unit obtained two arrest warrants, according to a press release.
Detectives filed criminal charges against Goines after a woman 鈥渕ade an outcry that was reported to the department鈥 in June and after consultation with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
Goines is a prominent community figure.
As founding pastor of Koinonia Christian Church, he was part of Arlington city government鈥檚 Unity Council, which made recommendations to address disparities marginalized communities face in areas including health, housing and education. Goines chaired the policing subcommittee.
In 2022, Arlington City Council dedicated honorary street toppers to Goines along Southeast Green Oaks Boulevard at Sherry and Sherburne streets.
The same year, Goines cosigned a letter to elected city officials against LGBTQ+ Pride Month-themed displays at Arlington Public Library branches.
The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, whose board is composed of Arlington City Council members, in 2021.
Goines is also a former member of APD鈥檚 Arlington Clergy and Police Partnership program.
A representative with Koinonia Christian Church declined comment when reached by phone Thursday afternoon.
