The University of Texas at Dallas has launched a series of online bootcamps for Texas residents who want to work in the tech industry.
The program is a partnership between Fullstack Academy and UT Dallas Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. The courses are part time and don鈥檛 require any previous experience in cybersecurity. Bootcamp offerings include courses on cybersecurity, software development and data visualization.
Dr. Lawrence Overzet, head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT Dallas, said this is an opportunity to meet the demand of the growing needs of the region.
鈥淭hese bootcamps will not only develop qualified tech talent for prominent companies, but also connect students with these local major tech players through networking opportunities and other career services available through the university and Fullstack Academy.鈥�
According to UT Dallas, the program will qualify students for high-paying tech jobs that range from 32% to 121% above the average entry-level salary in the Dallas area.
Online are now open up to the end of the month. The process requires candidates to select the program of interest, fill out an application form, take a non-technical assessment and wait for an entrance decision.
Classes begin in November and students can choose from two weeknight options, 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m and one on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Program prices start at $11,995. Deadlines to apply vary depending on the program selected, Oct. 25 for cybersecurity, Nov. 1 for DevOps, Nov. 2 for data analysts and Nov. 9 for coding.
