With more bad weather predicted for North Texas, Lancaster officials want residents to sign up for the free Code Red Weather Warning system.
Paul Beck, with the Lancaster Police Department, says last week’s Code Red system warned registrants of tornadoes at 12:57 p.m., ahead of the sirens that sounded at 1:15.
Beck: Giving people 18 minutes notification and being prepared for the tornado that touched down at 1:35. We had no fatalities and just ten injuries. That was a great thing.
Giving people more warning time is why city officials want citizens to register for the free phone notification system.
