Okay, I know. Remembering birthdays, bill payments, and where you left your keys is hard enough. But there are a few dates you should keep in mind now that the Health Insurance Marketplace is up and running () in Texas. Here’s a breakdown, courtesy of the Texas Medical Association’s “” educational campaign.
Dec. 23. The last day you can sign up for health insurance on if you want it to take effect on Jan. 1 of 2014.
March 31. The final day you can sign up for health insurance on the Marketplace until the open enrollment period starts up again for 2015. This is also the date by which you need to have health insurance. If not, you will probably have to pay a penalty. The penalty is $95, or 1 percent of your family income.
