The top local stories this evening from the ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº Newsroom: Michael Williams says he’ll quit his job as Texas Education Commissioner effective Jan. 1.

After 16 years in Austin, the last three in this job, Williams told ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº he’s coming home to join his wife in Arlington.

And donating to charity is big business. Last year, $358 billion was given out, and 80 percent of that came from individuals. The Philanthropy Roundtable is a national nonprofit that helps donors give wisely.
