The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce has named Michelle Green-Ford as its new president and CEO. Green-Ford is the first woman to lead the organization in its more than 40-year history.
As president, Green-Ford says she鈥檒l focus on expanding the chamber鈥檚 business education offerings, vendor growth, and ensuring the chamber鈥檚 initiatives are 鈥淐OVID-proofed鈥� and adaptable to any future disruptions.
Green-Ford says she is also eager to find new ways to support generational business owners.
鈥淎s we look at the millennial generation, how do you bridge the gap in terms of what is needed? How do you match the innovation and creativity and zeal of a generation with the wisdom and understanding and knowledge of those who鈥檝e gone before them?鈥�
Prior to joining the chamber, Green-Ford served as vice president and chief diversity officer of Tarrant County鈥檚 JPS Health Network and ran a training and consulting business for 18 years.
Green-Ford鈥檚 appointment comes following the death of the Chamber鈥檚 longtime leader Dee Jennings in July 2020.
As the chamber鈥檚 first female president, Green-Ford says she hopes her appointment will be a source of inspiration.
鈥淚 hope just to be an example of that for others, a role model if you will, that it would not be gender that will determine your destination, it would be your skills and your ability and what you bring to the table.鈥�
