A Brazoria County grand jury declined to indict former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson in a case related to alleged sexual misconduct on Thursday.
The complaint was filed by a woman who accused the quarterback of sexual misconduct during a massage session that occurred in Pearland.
The case was referred to Brazoria County last year.
The decision comes after the grand jury was presented with evidence 鈥減repared by the Brazoria County Sheriff鈥檚 office and the Houston Police Department,鈥 and after hearing testimony from witnesses, according to the Brazoria County DA鈥檚 Office.
A on nine other criminal complaints two weeks ago. Watson is still facing 22 civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault and misconduct.
In a statement before the grand jury鈥檚 decision, attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the 22 women who are suing the quarterback, said the outcome doesn鈥檛 affect lawsuits that are currently in ligation.
鈥淲hat happens criminally has no bearing on the civil cases,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 am involved with the civil side in what I believe to be very strong cases. That is, has been, and will remain my primary focus.鈥
Most of the suits accuse Watson of exposing himself, touching the women and kissing them against their will during massage sessions.
The quarterback has denied any wrongdoing.
Watson was traded to the last week. According to Watson鈥檚 attorney, Rusty Hardin, the Browns were aware of the final criminal complaint during their trade talks with the Houston Texans.
