Update: Greg Abbott, the Republican candidate for governor, responded to Ted Nugent's apology with the following statement:
"I believe Ted Nugent recognized his language was wrong and he rightly apologized. This is not the kind of language I would use or endorse in any way. It's time to move beyond this, and I will continue to focus on the issues that matter to Texans."

The rocker and Republican supporter today offered his tongue-in-cheek apology during an interview on North Texas radio station .
Nugent said: 鈥淚 did cross the line. I do apologize.鈥�
He then went on to say that the apology was less for the president and more for Republican politicians, including Davis鈥� gubernatorial opponent Greg Abbott,
鈥淚 apologize for using the street fighter terminology of 鈥榮ub mongrel鈥� instead of just using more understandable language such as 鈥榲iolator of the Constitution鈥� and the liar that he is,鈥� Nugent said as he slammed the president anew.

Media reports also identified a documentary in which Nugent admits having sexual relations with underaged girls several decades ago.
Bo Delp, with the Davis campaign, said Nugent鈥檚 lukewarm apology doesn鈥檛 make up for his bragging about having sex with young girls.
Delp called Nugent an 鈥渁dmitted sexual predator鈥� and said Abbott shows a lack of character by defending his association with Nugent.
The Abbott campaign has not responded to Nugent鈥檚 apology and has not said if the candidate will continue to campaign with Nugent.
