According to Tuesday’s staff presentation, $27 million of the funds will be used to supplement projects from the 2019 general obligation bond election, and some of it will go toward replacing old and adding new infrastructure due to growth.

The Denton City Council voted Tuesday night to approve a city budget of more than $2 billion, a property tax rate increase and more utility rate increases.

County Commissioners also approve lowest tax rate since 1986.

Denton has proposed a city budget 20% higher than this year’s along with a property tax increase.

Denton County commissioners were presented with a proposed $418 million budget for the 2025 fiscal year during Tuesday morning’s meeting.

The Denton City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve a budget and tax rate that will bring in more property tax revenue for the city.
