At least nineteen international students at UTD whose visas were revoked have had their status restored, the school said this week. They were among hundreds of Texas students to suddenly lose their status under a federal crackdown.

University of North Texas officials reported Tuesday morning that 28 international students who had their student visas revoked by the Trump administration now have their credentials reinstated.

The U visa was created in 2000 鈥渢o strengthen the ability of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cases鈥� relating to several major crimes. But applicants could wait several more years before a final determination is made.
