The nation鈥檚 largest LGBT civil rights organization released its third annual report assessing LGBT equality in 353 U.S. cities. Dallas and Fort Worth fared well, but other North Texas suburbs had low equality ratings.
Dallas and Fort Worth scored high on Human Rights Campaign鈥檚 annual Municipal Equality Index, receiving a score of 91 and 83, respectively.
HRC determined the ratings based on six factors, including a city鈥檚 non-discrimination laws, inclusive services for the LGBT community and non-discriminatory municipal hiring practices.
As for North Texas suburbs, Plano earned a score of 22, McKinney received a score of 12 and Mesquite and Irving both received zeros.
The average rating for all Texas cities was 22, below the HRC鈥檚 national average of 59.
