One worker has been killed and three hurt when the steel frame of an under-construction activities center collapsed outside Argyle High School.
The accident happened Thursday morning about an hour before classes began.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the collapse at the site in Argyle, about 20 miles north of Fort Worth. Heavy beams and other parts of frame were scattered on the ground.
Argyle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mac Hohenberg says the man who died was on a lift, about 35 feet up, that also came down when the structure fell. Two men were treated and released from a hospital. The third injured man was treated at the scene.
A message left with the general contractor, Northstar Builders Group, wasn't immediately returned Thursday.
The superintendent of the Argyle Independent School District says no students, parents or employees were in danger. Telena Wright confirmed one construction worker died and three were injured. She had no additional information about the victims.
Classes continued following the accident.
