From The Newsroom: Survivor Stories From North Texas Tornadoes

More than 1,000 homes were damaged from this weekend's tornadoes.

The top local stories this morning from the ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôºroom: Neighborhoods in Garland and Rowlett took some of the biggest punches from Saturday’s tornadoes. ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº's Bill Zeeble talked to some people yesterday who lived through the storms.

Other stories this morning:

  • Tornadoes in December is unusual, but it happens; about once every three to five years, according to Ted Ryan with the National Weather Service. Ryan also says El Nino had a helping hand in setting up this weekend’s storms. Luckily, the weather should calm down later this week.
  • This edition of brings some good news for coffee drinkers. A Harvard study published in the journal Circulation found people who drink three to five cups a day are less likely to die from a range of diseases, from diabetes to heart disease.
