The top local stories this morning from ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº: Dallas school district employees who work in the William H. Cotton building on South Lamar Street will undergo blood tests today.
Tests on water in the building earlier this week revealed higher-than-expected levels of lead and other substances. Alliance/AFT executive vice-president George Rangel to their supervisors for years about the water.
A statement yesterday from the city of Dallas said water samples collected from its service line met standards for safe drinking water. Also, that lead was not detected in the tap water.

- Seventeen African elephants just after midnight - five of them bound for the Dallas Zoo. This comes after a legal fight between a non-profit animal rights group, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Dallas Zoo and two other U.S. zoos that will house the elephants.
- Former First Lady Nancy Reagan will be buried today at the Reagan Presidential Library in California. Dale Petroskey, president of the Dallas Regional Chamber, from when he served as assistant press secretary for the Reagan Administration.
- While First Lady Michelle Obama’s in California for Mrs. Reagan’s funeral, the President will be in Austin to deliver the keynote address at the South by Southwest festival this afternoon. Art & Seek will be covering SXSW .
