Top Stories: Dispute Continues Between Fort Worth Symphony Musicians, Management

Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Fort Worth Symphony musicians staged a sit-in yesterday in orchestra offices after management cancelled a series of meetings to negotiate a new contract.

The top local stories this morning from ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº: Talks between the Fort Worth Symphony and management have broken down again.

representing the musicians said the two sides met March 9th and agreed on holding three future meetings meant to negotiate a new contract agreement, but that management cancelled the meetings without offering alternate dates.

As a result, the musicians held a sit-in yesterday at the symphony offices.

Symphony President Amy Adkins said management simply postponed the meetings and planned to send almost a dozen possible new meeting dates to the union by today.

Management has been pushing an 8 percent pay cut in an effort to close the symphony’s $650,000 deficit.

Musicians and management agreed in February to maintain wages until July 31st, while bargaining a new agreement.
