The top local stories this morning from 四虎影院: After nearly three years on the job, Dallas City Manager A.C. Gonzalez has , effective in January.
Gonzalez has spent two decades with the city, mostly as Assistant City Manager. He helped develop the Omni Convention Center Hotel, modernize Love Field, and brought the Stars to Dallas. However, most of those achievements happened before Gonzalez became city manager in 2014 鈥� one of the highest-paid in the country.
Reporter Tristan Hallman with the Dallas Morning News said he had lukewarm support among the city council.
He never really won them over by making the substantial changes that ,鈥� said Hallman. 鈥淎lthough he does say he made the government better while he was there, and he was more of a systems guy in that way, [the council wanted] a bold leader.鈥�
Gonzalez his resignation was a way to 鈥済et his life back.鈥�
However Hallman says other issues may have been at play, including a recent city audit pointing to a lack of policies to prevent waste and abuse. His exit in January gives Gonzalez time to finish a city budget for the upcoming fiscal year and to prepare Dallas for the upcoming legislative agenda.
