The top local stories this morning from ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº: A new study estimates there are nearly 9,000 stray dogs in South Dallas. The number of dog bites have also increased 15 percent annually since 2013.
According to , donors commissioned the report from Boston Consulting Group after Antoinette Brown died in South Dallas from a dog attack in early May.
The report highlighted a disparity between North and South Dallas.
For example, researchers couldn’t accurately predict how many dogs wander the streets in northern Dallas because they found so few dogs. Spay and neuter rates also varied drastically between North and South Dallas. About 80 percent of dogs in the north are fixed, while 85 percent of dogs in southern Dallas are intact.
Boston Consulting Group plans to present its full recommendations to the City Council in a few weeks.
