The top local stories this morning from ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº: After the July 7 police ambush that killed five Dallas officers, local law enforcement worked more than $800,000 in overtime.
The Dallas County sheriff's office, Arlington police and Irving police were among the agencies that assisted DPD during funerals and memorials after the attack. The sheriff's office told the employees worked about $86,000 in overtime between July 8 and July 22. Arlington police said they spent about $84,000.
In Dallas, police racked up the most overtime – more than $700,000 from after the attack to July 26. The city was already over-budget for police overtime prior to the shootings. $15 million was budgeted, but DPD will end the fiscal year with about $32 million in overtime.
