Brown hasn’t revealed the reason for the departure since he announced it in a statement last week. He’s been with the Dallas Police Department since 1983, and police chief since 2010.
Assistant Chief David Pughes will serve as interim Chief after Brown retires Oct. 22. The next city manager will appoint a new police chief.
