  • There were some bright spots for Dallas County Democrats. Both Democratic county commissioners held their seats, including John Wiley Price. County Sheriff Lupe Valdez was re-elected with a 22-point lead.
  • In the House District 107 race, Republican incumbent Kenneth Sheets by fewer than 900 votes. This was the state’s most expensive House race.
  • The hottest local election was in Arlington. to use local tax dollars to pay for half of a billion dollar ballpark with a retractable roof for the Texas Rangers.
  • Other local elections included a to reduce retirement benefits for future city civilian employees hired after January 1st. It passed with almost 70 percent of the vote.
  • In the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district, that would raise the overall tax rate by 11 cents, generating 17 million dollars for the district.
