Top Stories: Former Cop Sentenced To Prison; Texas' Impact On Mexico's Election

A jury sentenced a former Farmers Branch police officer to 10 years in prison for the shooting death of a 16-year-old who had burglarized his SUV. Former officer Ken Johnson Tuesday from the same Dallas County jury that found him guilty of murder and aggravated assault last month.

  • While many Americans will be focused on this fall's midterm elections, Mexican nationals living in Texas are keeping an eye on Mexico's presidential election in July. And Mexicans living in North Texas, and across the state, could play a big role in the outcome, according to Dallas Morning News border correspondent Alfredo Corchado. He  Texas Standard guest host Laura Rice about the tight presidential race.
