The top local stories this morning from ĻӰԺ: Arlington city officials will hold a press conference this afternoon to announce what they call an “important economic development.”
Sources tell the the announcement is a new stadium for the Texas Rangers.
The new ballpark would cost an estimated 900 million dollars and be split between the city and the Rangers once AT&T Stadium is paid off. Voter approval would be required to use tax dollars for the ballpark.
The Rangers’ lease with their current home, Globe Life Park, expires in 2024. The facility, which opened in 1994, is the 11th oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball.
