The top local stories this afternoon from ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº News: The corny dogs are sizzling and Big Tex is saying 'howdy' once again, which means the State Fair of Texas is back. A crew of ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôº reporters and producers spent the day at the fair, capturing the sounds and scenes.

Other stories this afternoon:

  • Folks will flock to the fair to try the deep fried Jello-O. But as Art&Seek’s Hady Mawajdeh reports, the main attraction this weekend is a showdown at the Cotton Bowl, not football, but a battle of the bands.
  • Kirsten Childs is a composer-lyricist who spotted a full-figured woman walking on the street – a woman whose sizable behind caused men to stare. Childs figured there was a musical comedy in this black woman’s power to stop men in their tracks. ËÄ»¢Ó°Ôºâ€™s Jerome Weeks talked with Childs about that musical, which is premiering at the Dallas Theater Center.
